MacroCam (macrocam.ca) is run by Sketchpad Solutions in Ontario, Canada. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and how to get your data deleted. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we never store your meal photos, and we never sell your data or show you ads.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile photo with us.
  • Profile: the name you choose, your age, sex, height, and (only if you add it) your weight, plus your unit preference and time zone. These are used to estimate how much energy you burn. Your weight is only ever shown to you, in Settings.
  • Your food log: the meals you save — your description, the itemized breakdown, calories and macros, the meal slot and time — and the steps and workout intensity you enter for each day.
  • Reminders: if you turn on reminders, the technical details your browser needs to receive them.
  • Technical logs: our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and troubleshooting.

Your meal photos

When you take or upload a photo, it is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to estimate what is on the plate. The estimate comes back to you; the photo is not saved by MacroCam — not in our database and not on our servers. Anthropic handles it under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on this data.

How we use it

  • To run the app: estimate meals, work out your daily totals and what you burned, lock each day at midnight, and show your chain, streaks and averages.
  • To sign you in, including emailing you one-time sign-in codes.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We don’t sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

Who helps us run MacroCam

We use these service providers, each only for the job listed:

  • Supabase — database and sign-in.
  • Vercel — hosting the website.
  • Anthropic — analyzing meal photos and descriptions.
  • Google — sign-in, only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
  • Resend — delivering sign-in code emails.

Some of these providers process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. Your browser also remembers a few display details, such as which milestone cards you’ve already seen. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your account and log for as long as you have an account. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your data, or to close your account, by emailing karan@sketchpadsolutions.com. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and everything you’ve logged within 30 days.

Security

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). The database is set up so each person can only read and change their own records, and past days lock so they can’t be altered.

Age

MacroCam is for people aged 13 and over. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, use it with a parent or guardian’s permission.

Your rights and complaints

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can access and correct your personal information and withdraw your consent. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled something, email us first; you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
